New sales management staff member

Carl Pierre Blasor has joined the sales management team as head of international key accounts at the Paderborn-based Lightpower company. (He will also be responsible for the international Rainbow Color Changer division.) Blasor majored in Linguistics and Cultural Studies and has completed vocational training as an export merchant. Born and raised in Italy, as well as in Puerto Rico and the US, he speaks four languages and has a good working knowledge of a fifth. He now resides with his family in Germany.

The Nobel Peace Prize concert was opened in Oslo on December 10 by crown prince Haakon and crown princess Mette-Marit of Norway. UN Secretary General Kofi A. Annan and the United Nations shared this year´s award. Meryl Streep and Liam Neeson hosted the centennial celebration and among the distinguished guests were: A-ha, Anastacia, Paul Bateman and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Sir Paul McCartney, Youssou N´Dour, Jan Garbarek, Barbara Hendriks, Natalia Imbruglia, Wyclef Jean, Kodo und Russel Watson. "This year´s concert highlights an important part of the Nobel Prize Centennial Celebration and is, moreover, a musical tribute to all prize winners of the year 2001," said Geir Lundestad, director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute. AVAB CAC provided the lighting technology, rigging, and sound. Lighting designer was Michael Sutcliffe, and Andreas Glad and Petter Espeland were responsible for the technology. They operated with a grandMA and used another grandMA as a manual tracking backup.


Argentina's 2001 ACE Awards

Argentina's 2001 ACE awards for special theatre achievements was awarded by the association of Argentine Show Columnists (ACE) in the Teatro El Nacional in Buenos Aires. This award represents the most significant national tribute in the theatre industry. This year´s prize winner in lighting design was Ariel del Mastro, for Variaciones Enigmaticas. The event was broadcast live by Channel A, with lighting design by Omar Figoli. Equipment included 20 Clay Paky Stage Zoom 1200, and 20 Stage Color 1200s, and two MA Lighting 48x2.4kW digital dimmer racks, all controlled by a grandMA with 4,096 channels.
