New Hires at Martin US and UK

There have two major new hires at the US and UK divisions of Martin Professional, the Danish manufacturing of moving lighting and control.

In the US, Matthias Hinrichs has come onboard as control product specialist. Hinrichs will provide sales and technical support for the growing Martin line of control products, which includes the newly released Maxxyz professional lighting console. He is based out of Martin's West Coast office.

"By providing excellent customer service, as well as supporting the sales department with all questions regarding control products, Matthias will help provide the right product for the right application," commented Michael Nevitt, control product manager at Martin US. "He was an integral part of the Maxxyz Beta test group for the past year, which makes for a seamless transition into the Martin team. It's a great benefit to have another control expert on staff."

Hinrichs, a native of Berlin, Germany, moved to Los Angeles in 2002. Prior to moving that, he was a student of theatre and event technology, as well as a freelance lighting programmer/designer in Europe.

His list of lighting credits includes corporate events, TV productions, rock shows, dance performances, and tradeshows. His production highlights include music videos for Peter Gabriel, Pink, Ice Cube and The Vines; a promotional event with Phil Collins; Top of the Pops; Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve; The German President Summer Gala; UNICEF Millennium Gala Germany; and Ubisoft's booth at E3. He toured with Gaelforce Dance, which performed over 250 times under his lighting direction in all parts of the world, including Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, in the UK, former Martin Professional PLC employee Simon Allan has rejoined the company as product manager for the Stage, Studio and Event segment, which includes Martin's MAC range of moving heads. Allan's responsibilities also cover Martin's growing range of lighting controllers, including the Maxxyz.

Allan has ten years of experience in the lighting industry and returns to Martin UK after three years as technical manager at moving light rental company Set Lighting & Sound Ltd. Prior to that he was employed at Martin UK as a technical support engineer, working on various onsite projects, as well as conducting training courses and helping to run the Martin University.

Allan said, "I'm glad to be back with Martin after being away for three years. A lot has happened here in that time including the establishment of the MAC 2000 range and the launch of the new Maxxyz controller. I am looking forward to the new challenge."
