Meyer Sound returned to Denmark for Roskilde Festival 2026, marking its ninth year as the Official Sound Partner. The sold-out 54th edition welcomed 140,000 participants from June 27 to July 4 with 177 acts—including The Cure, Gorillaz, Jennie, and David Byrne—performing on seven stages, all supported by Meyer Sound solutions.
This year, the festival introduced the third-generation Orange stage, which offers expanded production capability for headline acts. Meyer Sound TIGRA™ debuted at the EOS and the new Fauna stages; PANTHER™ line arrays and 2100-LFC™ low-frequency control elements anchored the Orange, Arena, EOS and Lagune stages.
TIGRA Debuts at Fauna and EOS
TIGRA line arrays played the leading role at Fauna, a new 2,500-capacity stage designed for intimate, close-up concert experiences. Each main array comprised four TIGRA-L and four TIGRA-W line array loudspeakers. TIGRA played a supporting role at EOS, with two TIGRA-W loudspeakers as down fills beneath each PANTHER main and eight TIGRA-L loudspeakers as a right-side out hang.
“So far, the responses to the TIGRA system have been amazing,” says Roskilde Festival Head of Production Lars Liliengren. “The feedback has been that the tonality of TIGRA is completely aligned with the tonality of PANTHER.”
“TIGRA is very much the child of PANTHER,” adds Meyer Sound Director of System Optimization Bob McCarthy. “We’ve voiced it in a very similar way, and its scaling for power is right in the range that makes it easy to transition.”
An Expanded Orange Stage Opens Possibilities
The Orange Stage returned with an expanded, more adaptable structure that retained its iconic orange canopy while adding wider wings, greater clearance, and increased load capacity for major touring productions. The stage moved nine meters deeper into the site and the system towers shifted outward, calling for refinements to array angles and aiming. The redesign also introduced six ULTRA‑X80™ point sources and six ULTRA-X40™ in the primary front-fill positions and two ULTRA-X82™ point sources as in-fills.
PANTHER and 2100-LFC again anchored the main system. “PANTHER and the 2100-LFCs, the way I think about it, just meld together, and you don’t feel like one box is separate from the other,” says McCarthy. “It’s simply an extension of the range.”
Elsewhere, PANTHER and 2100-LFC powered Arena and Lagune. The Gloria stage featured LINA® line arrays with 900-LFC™ and 2100-LFC low-frequency control elements. ULTRA-X80 point sources were used as delays on the Gloria stage, as well as the Fauna and Arena stages. Systems were managed and monitored with Nebra™ connection and control software and the GEN-1 Galileo Extended Networking platform.
A Broader Network of Support
Leading Meyer Sound technical support across the festival, Technical Support Specialist Arve Gotfredsen coordinated the onsite team and worked closely with an expanded roster of rental partners. Germany-based POOLgroup supported Orange and Arena, while Sweden-based Sight and Sound supported EOS. Denmark-based Explosion Danmark, PD Production, and Dansk Lydproduktion served Lagune, Fauna, and Gloria, respectively. Live Company supported Platform.
With limited sound check time in a fast-moving festival environment, the Meyer Sound team focused on creating consistent systems that allowed visiting engineers to experience the same system performance no matter how big or small the stage. “We want to make it easy to get your mix going on our systems,” says Gotfredsen. “The feedback we had, especially in the first days with the emerging artists, was that engineers were almost there right out of the gate.”
The partnership’s ongoing R&D and education work also included the Sonic College Audio Suite in the Artist Village. Meyer Sound Europe installed a 9.1.6 listening environment, maintained by Sonic College, where artists and engineers could audition stage-specific acoustic profiles created from measurements captured at all seven music stages before entering the performance spaces.
For Meyer Sound and the Roskilde team, the 2026 event offered an opportunity to apply the newest technology across very different applications while continuing the year-over-year refinement that defines the partnership. “There are always challenges when you do a large-scale festival with several stages,” says Liliengren, “but through our partnership with Meyer Sound, we constantly improve from year to year.”
