In Memoriam: Adelaide Laurino

Broadway wardrobe supervisor Adelaide Laurino died September 20, of multiple strokes, at Bayonne Hospital in New Jersey. She was 74.

A native of Bayonne, Laurino (whose maiden named was Lioi) studied at FIT, then went to work on Broadway, beginning in 1964 with Funny Girl (she also worked directly for Streisand for a time). Among her Broadway shows were A Little Night Music, Pacific Overtures, Sweeney Todd, Annie, Smile, and Shirley Valentine.

Her longest-running professional association was with producer Cameron Mackintosh, for whom she handled Cats, Song and Dance, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, and Miss Saigon. She retired when Les Miserables closed in May.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Lightfoot, of Myrtle Beach, SC. A memorial service is planned for October 23, her 75th birthday.
