BEYOND Lite is included at no cost when users create a BEYOND license account. Moving from QuickShow to Lite offers more ways to control live shows, build timelines, and now create and save work without connected laser hardware.
More Ways to Control Live Shows
Lite users now gain several live-control benefits, including an expanded cue set, workspace enhancements, and more effects. It also provides more Quick FX cue spaces, action fading on Quick FX, and more live control options.
One highly requested improvement is expanded MIDI control. The classic APC Mini works as it did in QuickShow, while Lite users also gain access to APC40 mapping, the BEYOND Performer Console, and the ability to map their own controllers. These expanded MIDI options provide greater flexibility during live operation.
Build More in the BEYOND Timeline
Lite users gain BEYOND’s Advanced Timeline mode, greatly expanding the scale and functionality of their timelines. They can experiment with effect tracks and bus tracks, then add content to the Cue Lift and Effect List to connect everything together in their timelines.
Plus, users gain access to the BEYOND Playlist mode, where they can load in all their new timelines into one place and play them on demand.
Create and Save Without Connected Hardware
With an account-based BEYOND Lite license, users can create, program, and save work without connecting laser hardware, completely free. They can begin building a show file even if they do not own a laser or hardware.
This change brings BEYOND more closely in line with industry standards, makes the software more accessible, and lowers the barrier to entry for people who want to learn, practice, or get work done.
The two-week grace period for saving after a higher-tier license is detected through connected hardware remains unchanged. Saving with a Lite license includes many of the core files users would be wanting to save, including zones, workspaces, timelines, midi maps and more.

Getting Started with BEYOND Lite
To activate a BEYOND Lite license, follow these steps:
- Download the full BEYOND 5.8 installer from the new Download Center.
- Install BEYOND.
- Open BEYOND for the first time.
- Open the Registration window, and then the license tab.
- Click “manage an account-based license.”
- Click log in and create an account.
- The BEYOND License account is separate from the Pangolin website and cloud accounts, so a new account will likely need to be created.
- Verify the account with the code sent to the email address.
- After verification, the system will be asked whether a free Lite license needs to be added to this account. If not offered a license immediately, go to the registration tab, and register online now.
- As with any paid account-based license, select the license and click “start use” to activate this license onto this PC.
