Martin Lights Unveiling of Olumpic Symbol in Beijing

The official emblem for the 29th Olympic Games, to be held in Beijing in 2008, was presented to the world on Sunday, August 3rd at a grand ceremony in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The highly energetic presentation was a festival of optimistic spirit and showcase of Chinese culture.

Held by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), Martin Professional had 88 intelligent lights adding to the celebratory atmosphere. The unveiling occurred before a live audience of over 2,000 VIPs with 400 million TV viewers watching the spectacular show, which was broadcast live, from home.

Some 48 MAC 200 Profile and 40 MAC 2000 Wash units were used to project color onto the Olympic emblem, as well as the exterior of the Temple of Heaven. The emblem, titled "Dancing Beijing", resembles a red Chinese seal enclosing a lively dancing figure and combines elements of traditional Chinese culture with the true Olympic spirit. Martin's representative in China, Martin Hong Kong, supplied the fixtures.

The new emblem was unveiled by Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Hein Verbruggen, chairman of the Coordination Commission at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad.
