Martin Conducts Lighting Seminar in China

Martin Professional Hong Kong recently sponsored a series of lighting and make up training courses aimed at increasing the quality of television programming in China by discussing the relationship between make up and lighting.

Martin, as a player in both television and stage productions in China, participated with three days of informative seminars regarding the use and integration of intelligent lighting in all aspects of television. Held from July 26th to August 1st at the Hua Hai Hotel in Weihai, Shandong, China on China's Eastern coast, the seminars were organized by the Chinese Radio and Television Society and Martin Professional Hong Kong. In attendance were lighting designers from TV stations and production companies across China.

Lecturers included Martin’s international segment manager for stage, studio and event lighting, Mark Ravenhill, who discussed the applications and techniques of using intelligent lighting in both television and live stage lighting scenarios. John Rayment of Laservision Limited, who has designed the lighting for an enormously diverse range of productions and events, spoke about the lighting design challenges and solutions of the Sydney 2000 Olympics, the philosophy of design, and the lighting of the Hong Kong harbor –"Symphony of Lights" - which Laservision recently completed.

There were also lectures conducted in Mandarin by local Martin staff. Wong Kwok Kei covered advanced lighting control desks and programming techniques.
