The Broadway Lighting Master Classes (BLMC) will be held Monday, May 22 through Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at NYU’s Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. Produced by Live Design magazine in conjunction with the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, the 12th annual BLMC represents in-depth professional training in lighting, with sessions by the top visual designers.
Tony Award-winning lighting designer Jules Fisher will once again serve as creative consultant and head of the faculty for the BLMC. A roster of leading lighting designers includes Fisher’s design partner at Third Eye Studios, Peggy Eisenhauer. The latest Broadway musical on their long list of credits is Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life.
Information regarding the schedule for the fourth annual Broadway Sound Master Classes (BSMC) will be announced shortly. Legendary sound designer Abe Jacob will again head the faculty of top sound professionals. The BSMC will explore the current trends in theatre sound design and reinforcement—-from the artistic process to new technology.
All participants at the BLMC and BSMC will attend a Broadway musical followed by an in-depth critique of the lighting and sound, respectively. Innovations this year include a new technology breakfast with brief presentations of new products and networking luncheons that will allow attendees and corporate sponsors the opportunity to meet in an informal setting. Please note that the Projection Master Classes that were launched in New York City last year will be held in conjunction with LDI2006 in Las Vegas in October 2006.

The Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 La Guardia Place at Washington Square South on the campus of New York University) is part of the Helen and Martin Kimmel University Center, which opened in late 2003. The University Center provides facilities to the undergraduate campus and student organizations and also includes the Eisner and Lubin Auditorium, a flat-floor flexible performance space that can accommodate lecture and film presentations, popular music concerts, and other student programming.
