Listen Technologies and Poll Sound Help People to Hear at the Winter Olympic Games

When Utah welcomes the world to the Olympic Winter Games two Utah companies will ensure that the welcome will actually be heard and understood. Poll Sound, an audio/video rental provider, will be supplying Listen Technologies Corporation wireless audio products for any guests needing auditory assistance at each of the ten Winter Olympic venues this February.

"We are so excited our products will be able to help people hear the events and activities of the Games," said Russell Gentner, President of Listen Technologies Corp. "There will be over 400 people utilizing Listen receivers and headsets at the different venues."

The Listen LR-300 Digital Receiver is a 72 MHz radio frequency assistive listening device that will be available to anyone needing auditory assistance at the venues. To meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, the SLOC will broadcast the venue sound with Listen's LT-700 Stationary Transmitters so that anyone with a Listen device will be able to hear the event play-by-play with their own units. Patrons simply need to ask for the devices wherever they see the ADA plaque. Using the Listen devices is as simple as putting on the earpiece, turning on the device, and adjusting the volume.

"We have always had people visiting Utah from around the world," continued Gentner, "but the Games offer a unique opportunity for Utahan's to demonstrate their acceptance and hospitality to everyone. It is gratifying as a local company to be able to make the experience more enjoyable for so many of our Olympic guests. So often, we take for granted something as simple as being able to hear what the announcer is saying, but these people will be able to enjoy the Games the same as everyone else thanks to Listen products."

"This is especially true of the Paralympic Games," said Gentner. The Listen Technologies' receivers will also be utilized during the Paralympic Winter Games immediately following the Winter Olympic Games.

Studies suggest that ten percent of all Americans suffer from some form of hearing loss or impairment.
