LightNetwork Gets Real At LDI

The LightNetwork is pleased to announce that it will have its own designated meeting place at LDI 2007 in Orlando. In a collaboration with Penton Media, the organizers of LDI, and industry trade association ESTA, Booth #1934 will be the LightNetwork meeting place, giving visiting forum members from around the world a home base at the show.

The LightNetwork is celebrating its 10th year of operation. However, this is the first time it has moved out of cyberspace with a physical presence at an industry event.

“Every year there are lots of discussions within the forum about the goings on at LDI, with people talking about the new products being shown and arranging to meet up”, says current LightNetwork admin, Richard Mead. “With members from all over the world LDI is the best opportunity of the year to put faces to names and having our own meeting place should make that a bit easier.”

The idea of a meeting place was first suggested by Mike Wood, former ESTA president and a longstanding LightNetwork member, who says, “LightNetwork members are gregarious but, because they mainly meet electronically, often don't recognize each other. Distinctive tee shirts is one solution but having a dedicated, non-commercial, meeting place at LDI seemed like a good idea.”

As well as its obvious role as a meeting place for members it is hoped that there will be other activities at LDI to make the most of the presence and as an opportunity to celebrate ten years of the LightNetwork. “I am hoping the members will be excited about this and will want to participate”, says Mead. “I have some initial ideas of members taking turns to act as hosts at the booth and of people writing blogs from the show for the benefit of those who can’t attend, but as always, it will ultimately be up to the members where they want to go with it.”

LightNetwork is run for the benefit of the membership, and wishes to thank its industry sponsors, most notablyETC. Thanks also goes to the organizers of LDI and to ESTA for making this special event possible.
