Lighting Boot Camp Part 2: The Consequences of Color

SMPTE New England Meeting
Wednesday, March 19, 2003
High Output, Canton, MA
6pm - Lighting Equipment Expo & Facility Tour
7pm - Lighting Boot Camp

Contact: John Gates at [email protected].

Last year’s Lighting Boot Camp was so successful, it's back for an encore. This SMPTE meeting is not just for techies. If you deal with creating pictures, you will benefit from this meeting. It’s two hours of Basic Training in creating and manipulating a motion picture image with light. Once again, award-winning lighting director John Gates will run you through the five basic lighting choices, this year with special emphasis on understanding, using, and controlling color.

A wide range of lighting equipment will be demonstrated. You are encouraged to come at 6pm to view and test this lighting equipment and tour the new High Output facility. Boot Camp starts promptly at 7pm. This year’s boot camp will be an HD event. Boston Camera Rental Company & Rule Broadcast Systems are bringing HD cameras and viewing systems so you can watch Lighting Boot Camp 2 in HD. Rosco Laboratories will be providing a range of color and other visual effects supplies, including its award-winning CalColor range.

There is no charge to attend these SMPTE New England Section meetings and everyone is invited. You do not need to be a member to attend. Find out more about the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers at its website.
