Dierks Bentley's Off The Map Tour crosses paths with LDI 2026, with shows at the Fontainebleau BleauLive Theatre on December 4 and 5. So why not add this country star to LDI's full-day Backstage Las Vegas event on Saturday, December 5? That's exactly what's happening, with Bentley's longtime lighting designer Chris Reade talking to the group about the tour lighting and how it adapts for venues such as this one.
Wrapping up his 20th year as LD for Bentley, Reade notes: "Obviously there has been quite a lot of growth in the technologies available to us during this time. We have gone away from incandescent instruments and lamp sourced moving lights to mostly LED based instruments, as most people have over this time. We have weaved in and out of some design choices over the years in regards to special effects and the like, and of course scale has varied throughout this time as well."
In terms of fixtures, Reade points out: "Currently, the workhorse instrument in our design is the ACME LYRA. While no light is perfect, I am a big fan of this instrument. It provides a lot of punch and is very consistent. While not a lighting instrument, I think our video director Houston Creswell brings a lot visually to the overall design, and I consider that a "workhorse" or a very important part of our show as well."
