Kramer Electronics Acquires Sierra Video Systems

Israel-based Kramer Electronics has acquired Sierra Video Systems, a northern California-based company specializing in the design, manufacture and distribution of high-quality matrix switchers and routers for the high-end professional AV, broadcast, military and staging/rental and presentation marketplaces.

The new company will operate as Sierra Video Systems, a subsidiary of Kramer Electronics US.

Eric Berliner, president, will remain in that capacity with Sierra Video Systems. “This acquisition is the next logical step to the very successful strategic alliance that Sierra and Kramer announced more than two years ago," says Berliner. "I am very excited about this merger of two very dynamic and well-known brands in the ProAV, presentation and broadcast industries. Sierra will continue to operate as in the past while we study the synergies between the two companies.”

Dave Bright, president of the NJ-based Kramer Electronics US adds, “The acquisition of Sierra will play a large part in the continued success and growth of both Kramer and Sierra. This opens a whole world of new possibilities for us both when you consider the potential for improved design, manufacture, warehousing and distribution through shared assets such as engineering personnel, combined worldwide sales forces, and a worldwide network of stocking locations. This is certainly the highlight of my six-year tenure with Kramer Electronics US. The combined strength and brand awareness of the two companies certainly makes us a formidable player in our various markets.”

Business will continue without interruption from Sierra’s original location in Grass Valley, CA. Customers and suppliers can still reach the new company through its existing channels.
