J.R. Clancy, Inc. announced that its Quality Management System has been recertified to the rigorous ISO 9001:2000 standards following a complete review of its operations and business practices by an independent ISO auditor.
J.R. Clancy remains the only North American designer, manufacturer, and installer of theatrical rigging equipment to have its Quality Management System certified to the ISO standard. “This designation sets J.R. Clancy apart and makes a strong statement about our commitment to quality,” says Bob Theis, CEO, J.R. Clancy. “It means we’ll follow through on every aspect of our design, installation and project management, to assure the customer is completely satisfied. Nothing less.”
J.R. Clancy earned its initial ISO certification in 2002. A critical component of the company’s internal controls system is its Project Quality Assurance Plan (PQAP), a disciplined protocol that covers all stages of every project, from bidding to close-out. The PQAP includes regularly scheduled customer, internal design, and progress reviews. The company uses the quality assurance plan to keep projects on time and within budget.
“Achieving and maintaining ISO certification is about ‘closing the loop’ – not just resolving a customer’s problem, but then finding the root cause of any problem, and fixing the cause so the problem won’t happen again,” says Tom Young, J.R. Clancy’s vice president of sales and marketing. “It’s a lot of hard work, but the continuous improvement it brings to the work we do is worth it,” he added.
The ISO 9001 standards, established by the International Organization for Standardization, specify strict requirements for state-of-the-art product design, installation, project management, and customer satisfaction. The ISO standards are recognized as the most prestigious quality standards in the world.
