Instructor of Design/Theatre Tech, Southern Arkansas University

The Dempsey College of Liberal and Performing Arts at Southern Arkansas University invites applicants for a non-tenure track Instructor of Design/Theatre Tech. Housed in the Department of Performing Arts and Mass Communication, the Theatre program offers B.F.A. degrees in Performance with emphases in the Theatre and Musical Theatre.

Duties: Teach design/tech courses at the introductory and advanced levels and other courses based on applicant’s area(s) of specialty; oversee the design and execution of the technical elements for departmental productions; supervise student technical workers in shop and production technical rehearsals; take part in the season planning process; attend scholarship auditions and departmental meetings and other duties as assigned.

Job Description
The Motion Designer 2D/3D will be responsible for creating imagery, motion graphics and animations as needed. Motion Designer 2D/3D reports to the Director of Media Production. The Motion Designer will have experience creating presentations, storyboards, imagery, motion graphics and animation for the live entertainment industry, including but not limited to theater, concerts, broadcast, theme parks, etc. The Motion Designer is a creative thinker and problem solver who can work independently as well as collaboratively in client-facing environments.


  • After Effects proficiency, as well as the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and Illustrator. Proficiency in C4D, 3DS Max, Maya, Unreal or other 3D applications is a plus.
  • Experienced with Concepts and Animation, Storyboarding and presentations
  • Experienced with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro
  • Proven track record in delivering outstanding motion design projects for various brands and clients, as well as personal, showcased in a carefully curated portfolio.
