• Senior Lighting Specialist, Productions Unlimited, Inc.

Productions Unlimited in upstate South Carolina is currently seeking a senior-level Lighting Specialist to aid in system design, sales and project management. This is full time work with no weekend work. 

  • Installation of theatrical lighting equipment. This could include pulling of control wire, termination of low voltage wiring and programming of systems. 
  • Obtain and maintain Electronic Theatre Controls Installation Technician Certification. 
  • Work directly with customers on sales, installation, training, and servicing of equipment and systems. This includes theatrical and architectural lighting needs. 
  • Proficient in AutoCAD experience, reading as well as drawing.
  • Physical activities including but not limited to: lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying 50+ lbs. 
  • Work in existing or under construction venues requiring personal protective equipment: hard hat, safety glasses, hi-vis vest, gloves, and steel toed boots. 
  • Position will include travel out of town and overnight staying in a hotel or house rental with other employees. 
  • The ability to work some overtime will be required.

The position pays $25-35 per hour depending on experience. Benefits including 401k.

• Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor of Projection and Lighting Design, RIT

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT )is seeking an outstanding artist, scholar, and teacher with primary expertise in projection design for live theatre, dance, and music performance. Candidates will have an MFA in projection design, theatrical design, theatre technology, and/or lighting design.

They should have university-level teaching experience, demonstrated collaborative design and technical experience in university productions, professional theatre, and/or relevant entertainment venues as well as demonstrated experience with current projection and lighting technology. RIT welcomes an innovative and collaboratively-minded individual inspired by interdisciplinarity who is interested in contributing to a community dedicated to student-centeredness, creativity, collaboration and innovation. 

Responsibilities may include teaching one to two courses per academic year. The candidate will have the opportunity to design, develop, and teach new courses in projection design, lighting design and theatre technology.  A major component of the work will be designing one to two productions per semester as well as occasional projection design for musical concerts and dance productions.  

The professor will supervise and mentor students in design and technology, including support for student designers and technicians on production assignments.  The total academic load includes design, mentorship, and teaching; design assignments result in course release.  School of Performing Arts students have the opportunity to collaborate with other academic units at RIT including the School of Film and Animation, and the School of Interactive Games and Media.

Salary range: assistant professor: $63,000 to $68,000 / associate professor: $75,000 to $82,000

• Technical Director, Center Theatre Group

Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000

Under the direction of the Director of Production, the Technical Director serves as a key member of the Production Department and is responsible for all aspects of planning and executing the scenery for self-produced shows and events at Center Theatre Group’s three theatres – the Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and Kirk Douglas Theatre. The Technical Director works in collaboration with other Production Staff, Designers and Stagehands to ensure the safe and successful engineering, construction, installation and removal of scenery, rigging, and other technical elements.

Lewis Center for the Arts, Princeton University: Freelance Sound Engineer

Lewis Center for the Arts is seeking a freelance Sound Engineer in the New Jersey, Philadelphia and New York area for a production of Flight of A Legless Bird.

Pay: $45/hr. biweekly

The Sound Engineer is responsible for setting up, maintaining and operating audio equipment during the run of the show. This show consists of 8 wireless mics for performers and playback via Qlab 5. The sound console is a Midas Pro 2. The Sound Engineer reports to the Sound Supervisor.

Candidates should have a working knowledge of professional audio equipment, Midas consoles, and Qlab. Experience running sound for theater is strongly preferred.
