Responsibilities include:

• Perform show load‐ins, pre‐show checklists and loadouts with the tech team for each show.
• Perform rig checks before each show following the preshow checklist procedures.
• Safely and securely operate all the automated equipment during all shows.
• Open tickets in IssueTrak detailing any new or outstanding problem pertaining to the computer or mechanical rigging system.
• Communicate with ETM, ED, Shipboard and Shoreside Supervisors any safety concerns that could affect the safety of the cast, running crew, guests, or the ship itself during the show, if operated.
• Become familiar with basic audio/video/lighting equipment setup and operation, to be able to take on the “Tech on Duty” responsibility.
• Actively participate in assigned activities including, but not limited to trainings, drills, safety briefings, “Port Manning”, meetings and performances, as required.

Qualifications:

• Be able to work under pressure, multitask and make quick judgment calls.
• Basic knowledge in PC hardware & software maintenance and repair.
• Basic rigging knowledge, able to inspect and identify issues and hazards.
• Comfortable working at heights, be able to safely climb to operate electric hoists for various scenery pieces hanging at heights up to 35ft (10.5m).
• Must be able to safely climb an A‐frame ladder and properly operate AWP.
• Be able to work in a “review‐house” environment, with different shows happening in the same theater throughout the cruise, each one requiring different setups and pre‐checks.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Be open to flexible working hours, starting early mornings, up to 10 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Required to work on a per program basis, which includes a 12-week shoreside/onboard combination schedule followed by 3-4 weeks non-paid leave which leads to a full 6-month contract.

Additional requirements:

• Be currently enrolled and attending an accredited college/university.
• Have a minimum cumulative 3.0 cumulative GPA out of a 4.0 scale.
• Be a graduating senior (earning academic credit preferred).
• Be at least 21 years of age or older by the start of the program.
• Be able to obtain a valid USA passport by the practicum offer date.
• Be able to commit to the full-term dates of the program, including the full 6-month contract (10-month commitment).
• Pass all of Carnival Cruise Line’s pre-employment background and medical and dental requirements.
