InFocus Introduces LiteShow Wireless Projection Solution

Bringing projection to a world going wireless, InFocus Corporation (Nasdaq:INFS) (OSE: IFC), the worldwide leader in digital projection technology and services, today announced the launch of InFocus LiteShow®, the first wireless digital projector solution that delivers on the promise of wireless projection. Boldly designed for simplicity-of-use, LiteShow is the world's first "connect and project," zero-configuration wireless projection system. Created to produce more efficient meetings where users can securely project their ideas from anywhere in the room, LiteShow is compatible with most InFocus projectors produced in the last four years, and features the performance and security on par with cabled projection.

"LiteShow is the first truly user-friendly wireless system for projection technology," said John V. Harker, Chairman, President and CEO of InFocus. "We set out to create a wireless system with the same performance and security as a cabled system, without requiring an IT professional to set it up. We believe LiteShow will set the industry benchmark for wireless projection solutions."

Security is a major concern in any wireless network. InFocus has addressed security issues at the highest level, with industry-leading Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 128-bit data encryption and robust system authentication protection - simply stated, LiteShow sets a new industry standard for secure wireless projection.

Today's fast-paced business world is becoming dependent on wireless communication and the freedom from the binds of awkward cables. LiteShow brings an exciting new change to the way meetings are conducted. Facilitating a more community-based atmosphere, LiteShow creates an environment where people can simply present ideas from their own notebooks in rapid succession through a shared projector. In addition, wireless projection enhances real-time collaboration activities, minimizes equipment set-up and teardown and prevents lost or forgotten cables.

LiteShow's wireless performance produces scintillating colors and faster image transitions and typically produces refresh rates of less than one second, which is nearly five times faster than alternative solutions and equal to the response time of cabled projection depending on computer system specifications.

Using industry-standard Wi-Fi compliant 802.11b wireless technology, the system has a range of up to 300 feet (100 meters) and requires no additional external power source. The LiteShow projection system is compatible with existing wireless equipment, both embedded and PC card-based 802.11b radios and Apple AirPort(tm) wireless LAN adapters. Additionally, InFocus offers a pre-certified Wi-Fi wireless LAN card option for those customers looking for an end-to-end solution.

InFocus' dedication to flexibility enables true freedom for its customers and has resulted in a wireless solution that is not tied to a specific projector but compatible with any projector with an M1-DA or M1-D standard connector. * LiteShow is an intuitive product that leverages a unique auto-discovery feature to eliminate complex manual network configuration requirements common to other wireless products.

The average set-up time is five simple mouse clicks, a significantly shorter time than the 20- or 30-minute set-up required by alternative solutions. In addition, LiteShow lets users extend the return on investment of their existing installed base of projectors, and an existing wireless LAN infrastructure because projectors and infrastructures don't have to be replaced. They can simply be repurposed for wireless convenience.

InFocus' deep understanding of meeting room function and process factored into the design elements of LiteShow. The system will project any data displayed by a computer and transitions between meeting participants will be smooth and quick. With the LiteShow software loaded on all presenters' computers, speakers need only to release the projector while the next speaker searches and "grabs" it via the software-enabled network link.

"Having immersed ourselves in the nature and purpose of projection at meetings in business, government and educational settings, we understand what our customers need to conduct a confident, unburdened and efficient presentation," said Harker. "LiteShow is about the freedom to use our products anywhere, anytime with simple set up and bold, successful results."

LiteShow will be available this summer at the estimated price of $499. USD. LiteShow 1.0 will support wireless projection from PCs and Macs in ad-hoc mode. Later this fall, an enhanced version of LiteShow will be available at no charge and will provide wireless transmission while on a corporate network.
