ILAD Announces 12/1 Deadline For IALD Award Entries

The IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers) has announced a new submission deadline of December 1, 2003 for the 21st Annual IALD Awards. The Call for Entries is posted on the IALD website, www.iald.org, and the winners will be announced on April 1, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the IALD Awards Presentation and Trust Benefit Dinner held in conjunction with Lightfair. Also on the website are the judging criteria and worksheets that will be used during the judging process.

The IALD has instituted a few more changes this year. First is the inclusion of a Sustainability category to recognize this important lighting design issue. Additionally, the IALD has retained the digital submission requirement, this time requiring those submissions to be sent on a CD versus sending them as an email attachment. This should help ensure the quality of the images. You will also note that we have specific recommendations to ensure the highest quality submissions and presentation. Finally, entries continue to be submitted by category, and at next year’s presentation winners will be acknowledged by the categories.

The IALD looks forward to an awards competition and presentation that are even more successful than last year’s which had 163 submissions from 11 countries. For further information on the awards, go to the IALD website and click on 2004 Call for Entries or contact the office at 312.527.3677.

The IALD Lighting Design Awards program was established in 1983 and is co-sponsored by Professional Lighting Design magazine.
