IESNE to Present Light Sources Seminar

The IESNA New England Section will present its popular Light Sources Seminar on Monday, November 5, 2001, 1:00-6:30pm, at Osram Sylvania's Lightpoint facility in Danvers, MA. In this half-day seminar, information will be presented on different types of light sources: how each produces light, what types of environments are best suited for particular lighting systems, and what the limitations are.

Topics treated in detail by this Light Sources Seminar include:

  • lighting basics--electrical terms, lighting terms, color basics

  • incandescent & halogen lamps--incandescent, line-voltage halogen, low-voltage halogen

  • fluorescent lighting systems--linear and compact fluorescent lamps and ballasts

  • high-intensity discharge systems--high-pressure mercury, metal-halide, low-pressure sodium, high-pressure sodium

The seminar will be conducted as a mixture of lecture and hands-on demonstrations and will conclude with a tour of Osram Sylvania's Lightpoint facility to observe different lighting schemes in real applications.

Seminar fee is $50 for members, $75 for non-members. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for engineers, architects, and interior designers are available.

For further information call Nick Ferzacca at 617-520-9243 or go to www.iesnewengland.com. Registration deadline is October 26, 2001. Confirmation notices will be sent out after the deadline for registration.
