ICIA Releases New Dates for InfoComm China

INFOCOMMASIA Pte Ltd (IAPL), organizer of InfoComm China, has made the decision to reschedule the event in light of the unclear Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome’s (SARS) situation in China. InfoComm China is slated to take place May 12-14, 2004 at the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Dr. Nat Wong, managing director of IAPL, said: “Following our first announcement to postpone our show from April to July, we’ve continued to closely monitor the SARS development in China, as this concerns the wellbeing of our participants. From information gathered through the various reports, we’re optimistic that the world’s medical experts, with better understanding of the virus, will be able to contain the spread of the virus if not find a cure in the very near future. With this in mind, we’ve decided to defer the show by another year."

Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., executive director of ICIA, added: “This postponement was the right thing to do for both our exhibitors and attendees. We look forward to working with our partners and exhibitors to set the stage for producing our second show in Shanghai to match the successful launch of InfoComm China in 2002. Notwithstanding the current setback faced by China due to SARS, it is undeniably still the fastest growing market in the world.”

Buyers at InfoComm China 2004 can expect to meet industry leaders such as Barco, Christie Digital Systems, Crestron, Da-Lite Screen Company, Draper Inc., Epson, Extron, Hitachi, InFocus, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Sanyo, Sony and Toshiba. The 10,000 square-meter exhibition will showcase products and services from over 80 exhibitors.

In conjunction with the exhibition, a three-day seminar on new AV technologies and products will be held. The seminar is organized under the aegis of ICIA.
