The IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers) will hold its 34th annual meeting and 4th education conference on Friday and Saturday, January 30 and 31, 2004 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
This year’s conference will be held at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue at Simon Frazier University and the attached Delta Vancouver Suites Hotel. The Wosk Centre is a state-of-the-art conference facility that combines design, service and technology and is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver.
The Delta Vancouver Suites is a full service, all business suites hotel where each suite is equipped with high speed internet access, a designated work station and even an ergonomic chair. The hotel is connected to the Wosk Centre on two levels.
Conference Program Highlights:
The program includes nine seminars and two workshops. The seminars cover a wide range of topics including the effects of light and dark on health, the latest news on the safety and long term effects of ultraviolet light, and an update on control systems and how to use DMX for trouble free operation.
The sustainable design workshop will combine teams of designers to work on thorny projects and solve problems dealing with difficult sites and cost and time restraints.
In addition to the design track, this year, a business track will feature seminars on how to measure a successful career, managing, motivating and mentoring employees and strategic goal setting for optimum success in the business world.
On Friday evening, January 30, TIR Systems and Ledalite Architectural Products have planned a wine tasting party, featuring some of British Columbia’s finest wines as well as West Coast-inspired hors d’oeuvres and live jazz .
