Hemsley Lighting Portfolio Review Announced

The Gilbert V. Hemsley Jr. Internship, Inc. has announced the creation of the Hemsley Portfolio Review for lighting students as the newest addition to the Gilbert Hemsley Lighting Programs.

Starting in the spring of 2005, the annual review will be open to final year students from across the country that wish to have their work critiqued by a panel of professional designers, directors, and other members of the performing arts community.

Held in New York, this weekend-long event will include individual reviews, an exhibit of student’s work, and additional opportunities to speak with professionals one on one. Announcements will be made in the fall of 2004 regarding dates and application procedures.

The Hemsley Portfolio Review will provide students with a unique opportunity to discuss their work with leading professionals in a non-competitive setting. Students will also benefit from seeing the work of their peers and making contacts within the design community.

Gilbert Hemsley dedicated his life to the training of young theatre professionals. For 20 years the Internship has continued his legacy by offering unique experiences to young designers. The Gilbert Hemsley Lighting Programs now include the annual Lincoln Center Internship, University Master Classes, annual Hemsley Internship/USITT seminars, and now, the Hemsley Portfolio Review.
