Stenger-Technik, ADB's distributor and consulting office in Austria, is currently installing a large lighting control system for the new Stadthalle in Graz. Austria's second-largest city is preparing for 2003, when it will be the cultural capital of Europe (go to www.graz03.at for more info).
The modern and multifunctional event hall is being built on the ground of the Graz fair, with 12,300 sq. m (136,000 sq. ft.) of usable floor space for music, arts, and cultural events. The world-famous Kalachakra for World Peace will inaugurate the new hall this October in the presence of the Dalai Lama.
The installation at the new Stadthalle includes ADB Phoenix 10 and Phoenix 5 lighting control desks with Isis software running the company's proprietary Ethernet software. The Ethernet signal is distributed via seven Netswitches to a total of nine Netgate (XT) units which provide for the DMX outlets distributed around the building. The user can control pre-programmed macros on the Netgate XT, connect switches, and see the video output of the Isis control on a standard SVGA monitor. All lighting control desks are remote-controllable by infrared transmitters and receivers. The house and work lights are controlled by ADB's S2MS architectural lighting control system which allows flexibility of control over many lighting sources. The entire system was designed to handle touring companies and other users who will perform at this venue. The open architecture of the Ethernet allows for future extensions to the systems and interfaces with major bus-systems on the market.
