CHARLOTTE – Charlotte Motor Speedway has unveiled one of the world’s largest LED displays as a state-of-the-art enhancement to its race-day fan experience. Constructed and installed by GoVision, a premier provider of experiential services delivered through large-scale video displays, the screen measures a whopping 200 feet wide by 77 feet high, placing it among the 15 biggest LED screens in the United States, and among the 30 largest on the planet.
Boasting an impressive pixel matrix of 3,780W x 1,460H, the new screen is comprised of more than 5.5 million pixels – an astonishing 737% increase in pixel count compared to the Speedway’s previous display, which numbered 659,200 total pixels. The technological leap forward delivers breathtaking image quality, ensuring that every fan in the stadium enjoys the most immersive viewing experience possible.
“Our new video screen is absolutely spectacular – you have to see it to believe it,” said John Pitts, Director of Project Management at Speedway Motorsports. “The team at GoVision did an incredible job building a screen that perfectly complements our venue and gives our fans the most incredible views of the action. We couldn’t be more pleased with the finished product and can’t wait to show it off at our many races and other events for years to come.”
With brightness levels 700 times greater than standard LCD screens, CMS’ new LED screen offers crisp and vibrant visuals even under the sunniest conditions. Weighing around 105,000 pounds – roughly the weight of 33 NASCAR cars or 450 NASCAR drivers – this mammoth display was designed to be as durable as it is visually impressive.
“We are incredibly proud to partner with John and his team at SMI on this game-changing project,” said GoVision Founder Chris Curtis. “This screen doesn’t just set new standards for size, but also for clarity and brightness, ensuring that every fan has the best seat in the house. Whether it’s the thrill of a race or the excitement of a live concert, this LED board will enhance our fan experience like never before.”
The installation – which debuted at the Bank of America ROVAL 400 on Oct. 13 – further solidifies GoVision’s position as a leader in the LED display industry, providing cutting-edge solutions for sports arenas, live events and entertainment venues around the world.
