Real-time camera workflows, Notch-based grading and projection mapping combine to deliver unforgettable visuals across the sold-out arena tour
London, UK — Olivia Dean’s sold-out The Art of Loving arena tour is reimagining the role of live camera in concert production, replacing traditional IMAG screens with a real-time projection system that maps cinematic camera feeds directly onto the show’s scenic drapes.
The video system – designed by FRAY Studio in collaboration with production and lighting designers 1826 Studio and powered by Disguise GX 3 media servers – transforms the tour’s soft, fabric-led stage design into an immersive live canvas. Instead of placing image magnification screens beside the stage, the team projects live camera feeds onto large curved drapes behind and around the band, keeping audience attention centred on the performance while ensuring fans across the venue can experience the intimacy and energy on stage.
“The aim was to integrate cameras seamlessly with the rest of the set, create beautiful grading, and ensure each audience member could experience the energy on stage, no matter their seat,” said Daniel Richardson, Designer at 1826 Studio.
At the heart of the system are three Disguise GX 3 media servers supplied by Solotech, enabling FRAY Studio to process live camera inputs, apply real-time grading through Notch blocks, and manage projection mapping across complex scenic surfaces. The production uses six projectors on the upstage drape and two Front of House projectors for the downstage drape, with the mapping, blending and output feed warping features of Disguise’s Designer software used to align projection across curved and pleated fabric surfaces from venue to venue.
Custom LUTs and Notch workflows give each song its own cinematic treatment, allowing the live camera feeds to evolve with the performance while staying integrated with the tour’s soft, organic stage design.
The production also features choreographed live camera moments between Olivia Dean and her backing vocalists, with multiple camera inputs routed through Disguise to create carefully timed compositions during key harmonies. These moments highlight the relationship between Olivia and her band, bringing subtle on-stage interactions closer to audiences across the arena.
“The most rewarding part of the project was working collaboratively across all departments to create a visually beautiful show,” said Kira O’Brien, Video Designer at FRAY Studio. “By choreographing moments with the camera director and lighting designer, we ensured the emotion and energy on stage was captured and reflected in the projection in real time.”
The result brings audiences closer to Olivia Dean and her band, while keeping the live camera fully integrated with the show’s scenic design.
The tour includes sold-out shows at London’s O2, Manchester’s Co-op Live and Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, alongside dates across Europe.
