First Circle Celebrates First Year

Newport Beach, California-based First Circle Design, LLC, a lighting design consultancy for architecture, hospitality, casinos, and themed environments, is celebrating its first year of business.

Opening its doors on February 24th, 2006, the firm has, over the last twelve months, doubled in size and has taken on several high profile projects, including Wynn’s Encore in Las Vegas; MGM Mirage City Center in Las Vegas; Perkins Rowe, a 33 acre mixed-use development in Baton Rouge; Wolfang Puck’s new steakhouse, Cut, in Las Vegas; the refurbishment of the Portland Armory, in Portland, Oregon; the Tusher African Hall within the new California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco; and a national roll-out of Margaritaville restaurants. Clients and collaborators include Gensler, Avery Brooks and Associates, HBA/Hirsch Bedner and Associates, Wynn Design and Development, Wimberly Allison Tong and Goo, Edwards Technologies, GBD Architects and jts Development.

“As much as we have increased our staff, we remain committed to being a ‘boutique’ firm—certainly in terms of approach,” says principal Peter Maradudin. “We have all worked at and with other firms, and we challenge ourselves to produce work that sets a new industry standard, above and beyond what clients have come to expect from others.”
