Feel the Light: A Short Documentary by Christien Methot

During the peak of the pandemic, principal designer Christien Methot set out to document light’s profound and often unnoticed effects on our environment and emotions. In a series of Zoom interviews with longtime clients and collaborators, Feel the Light explores the humanity that lies behind the utility of light that we experience every day.

“In a profession that requires a great deal of technical knowledge, the softer side of lighting is often forgotten,” states Methot. Uniting his own point of view as a lighting designer with those of producers and architects, Methot explores how technical and artistic aspects come together to create magical moments of light. Made during the pandemic, while very few new lighting projects were taking place, Methot used the time to conduct filmed interviews with longtime clients and collaborators about the importance of lighting on any application — from small offices to arena concerts, and everything in between.

In October 2023, Feel the Light was awarded Best Short in the annual New York Screenwriting Competition & Film Awards. Until now, the film had never been seen before.
