Faith Baum and Ken Douglas Create Illumination Arts

Faith E. Baum, IALD, LC and Kenneth A. Douglas, IALD, LC have announced the formation of Illumination Arts LLC, an architectural lighting design firm dedicated to the collaborative process of lighting all types of corporate, institutional and governmental projects.

Following several years as a theatrical lighting designer, Baum spent over nineteen years with The Mintz Lighting Group, a prominent architectural lighting design firm. In addition to her roles in client management and business development, she was project manager and lead designer for many projects, including the Maumee River Crossing in Toledo; New England Medical Center Building 1-C in Boston; Lansdowne Executive Conference Center and Hotel in Virginia; and Missouri River Pedestrian Bridge in Omaha.

Douglas was with The Mintz Lighting Group for fifteen years, after two years as lighting designer with an architectural firm and several years in theatrical lighting. His design work on the Thomas Jefferson Memorial while with TMLG earned a Lumen Award from the Illuminating Engineering Society and an Honorable Mention from the International Association of Lighting Designers. At TMLG, Ken was responsible for client management, project management and design, and all technology for the office. His other lighting designs include Warren Hall at Columbia University’s Schools of Law and Business; Sprint World Headquarters in Kansas; Mississippi River Bridge in St. Louis; and St. Joseph’s Home for the Blind in New Jersey.

Baum and Douglas are both professional members of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and are Lighting Certified (LC) by the National Council on the Qualification of Lighting Professionals (NCQLP).
