ExpoPlatform Partners With Simone Castelli, Eyes Italian Expansion

UK-based event tech provider ExpoPlatform has been working to expand its presence in the events industry. The company officially joined UFI in May, and it has now announced a new partnership with Simone Castelli to expand in Italy.

Castelli is the founder and CEO of Italian company Fairsgate, which produces digital booths for trade shows and helps connect buyers who are not able to attend in person. He has many years of experience in the exhibition industry in Italy as well as other regions, including as Business Unit Director at the Italian Exhibition Group.

Amid growing event tech uncertainty and layoffs at other tech companies, ExpoPlatform’s team has doubled in size over the past year, and its focus on smart events and 365 communities is a good fit for Castelli’s similar work on digital booths and virtual connection at events.

“I’m delighted to welcome someone with Simone’s experience to our team, said ExpoPlatform Chief Growth Officer Luke Bilton in a statement. “We already work closely with the organisers such as Fiere Bologna to deliver exceptional events such as Cosmoprof. This partnership will help us to unlock the huge potential of the Italian market for digital transformation.”

Following the event tech boom during the pandemic, many providers are facing an uphill battle as in-person events return and virtual is once again placed on the backburner. However, it’s important that organizers not forget about potential attendees who cannot attend in person or the data, insights, and engagement that tech can provide. Initiatives like these will hopefully help more events leverage event tech and better serve their audiences.

Castelli added, “I am pleased to work with ExpoPlatform because partnering with the leader in the digital marketplace will expand the solutions for the Italian exhibition organisers: their unique set of modules — from the unique Lead Intelligence dashboards, to Hosted Buying — all will give more value to the Italian market.”

Castelli and Bilton plan to introduce the new partnership to senior exhibition leaders at the GRS ExpoNetwork Forum conference in Milan next week.
