Project Type
Live for Broadcast. Social-first live event production for Prime Video.
Large-scale live fan festival and entertainment broadcast featuring live programming, talent appearances, fan interactions, exclusive content, and a live performance.
Project Name
Design Criteria
Broadcast Management Group's creative team needed to transform Prime Video’s inaugural Obsessed Fest from a physical fan festival into a live entertainment broadcast that could capture the energy of the event for viewers watching on TikTok.
The goal was to make the TikTok audience feel as connected to the event as the more than 1,000 fans inside NYA Studios. The production needed to tell the events story through talent appearances, audience reactions, fan activations, behind-the-scenes moments, live programming, and performances throughout the venue.
The creative team also needed to maintain visual and editorial rhythm across 7.5 hours of continuous live programming. Camera coverage, graphics, replay, audio, and transitions had to work together to keep a large social audience engaged while adapting to the unpredictable nature of a live fan environment.
BMG also had to capture the event in a traditional 16:9 landscape broadcast format while ensuring the content translated effectively to TikTok’s vertical viewing environment.
Project Description
Prime Video’s inaugural Obsessed Fest transformed NYA Studios in Los Angeles into a full-day celebration of its young adult programming, bringing together more than 1,000 fans, cast members, creators, authors, and industry guests for live programming, talent appearances, exclusive first looks, fan activations, and social-first content. The event brought together the talent and creative teams behind a broad slate of Prime Video titles, including The Love Hypothesis, Overcompensating, Off Campus, Every Year After, Elle, The Devil’s Mouth, Maxton Hall, Your Fault: London, The Last Sunrise, and Red, White & Royal Wedding. The lineup featured recognizable actors, creators, and authors including Lili Reinhart, Tom Bateman, Lana Condor, Damian Hardung, Asha Banks, Casey McQuiston, Anna Todd, Carley Fortune, Mercedes Ron, and others.
Prime Video livestreamed the entire event on its TikTok channel from 12:00 PM to 7:30 PM PT, creating a 7.5-hour continuous live broadcast that reached more than 800,000 concurrent viewers. Broadcast Management Group was brought on to produce the live broadcast, combining on-site production with a REMI workflow to turn an interactive fan festival into an entertainment broadcast without losing the energy of the in-person experience.
Obsessed Fest required the broadcast to capture the entire event rather than what was happening on stage. The production needed to move between live programming, talent appearances, audience reactions, fan activations, and moments happening throughout the venue. At the same time, the broadcast had to maintain the pace and visuals to hold the attention of a large social audience across seven and a half hours of continuous programming. A production of this scale required a model that combined creative show execution with distributed technical infrastructure, making BMG a strong fit for the project.
BMG deployed RMU-1 on site at NYA Studios, providing the mobile unit production infrastructure to manage the live event from Los Angeles while keeping the production team connected to BMG’s broadcast operation. An 11-camera workflow was used for coverage of the venue, including three hard cameras, one Steadicam, two handheld cameras, and five PTZ cameras. This combination gave the flexibility to move from traditional stage coverage to roaming talent shots, audience reactions, and activity throughout the venue. The camera strategy was particularly important for an event built around fandom, where the audience itself was a central part of the story.
The production also incorporated graphics, replay, audio, and technical direction into a distributed REMI workflow spanning Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and New York City. BMG’s Network Operations Center in Washington, DC housed the technical director, A1, lead replay operator, and graphics operator, while an additional replay operator supported the production from BMG’s New York City spoke facility. This allowed specialized broadcast personnel and resources to contribute to the production remotely while the on-site team remained focused on capturing the event and executing the show in the room.
The coordination between the three production locations was a critical component of the project. BMG’s distributed REMI workflow was a key component of the production, allowing specialized technical roles to operate from BMG facilities outside of Los Angeles.
By distributing responsibilities across its network, BMG maintained a connected operation while reducing the need for a fully on-site technical crew. The result was a connected workflow in which on-site production, centralized technical operations, replay, graphics, and audio could function as one team despite being separated by thousands of miles. This provided Prime Video with the depth of a traditional broadcast operation while maintaining a leaner on-site footprint.
BMG founder and CEO Todd Mason directed the production on site, overseeing the live show execution, camera coverage, pacing, talent moments, and transitions throughout the seven-and-a-half-hour broadcast. His presence at the venue connected the creative and technical sides of the production, helping the team respond in real time to the changing rhythm of the event. The production team had to maintain a consistent broadcast experience across hours of programming while adapting to the unpredictable nature of a live fan environment and the demands of high-profile talent.
The production carried significant stakes, with high-profile actors, creators, and guests from Amazon’s film and television programming appearing throughout the event, alongside an exclusive live performance from Jennifer Lopez. Every talent appearance, transition, and performance had to be executed in real time for both the live audience and hundreds of thousands of viewers watching on TikTok. The combination of recognizable talent, exclusive programming, and a large social audience made every moment of the 7.5-hour broadcast a live, high-stakes production.
What makes Obsessed Fest unique is the combination of its scale, format, audience, and production demands. This event was a social-first entertainment broadcast built around the culture of fandom. The production had to make viewers on TikTok feel connected to an event taking place inside a physical venue while serving more than 1,000 people experiencing it in person. Every camera position, replay opportunity, graphic, talent moment, and transition contributed to telling that story across two very different viewing environments.
Over 7.5 hours of continuous live programming, BMG brought together creative direction, mobile production, 11-camera coverage, graphics, replay, audio, production staffing, and distributed REMI operations to support Prime Video’s first Obsessed Fest. The production successfully connected the energy of a live fan festival in Los Angeles with a massive social audience watching around the world, demonstrating how a distributed production model can support large-scale, long-form entertainment broadcasts without sacrificing the immediacy or atmosphere of the live event.
Challenges and Solutions
Obsessed Fest presented several challenges beyond a traditional live entertainment broadcast. The event was designed around an active fan environment rather than a single stage, while the 7.5-hour livestream had to translate a traditional broadcast into a vertical-first TikTok experience.
The first challenge was that it was a dual-format production. The broadcast was captured in 16:9 landscape while being delivered to TikTok’s vertical audience. Camera operators and the creative team had to frame shots with both formats in mind, ensuring talent, performances, and fan moments could translate effectively to vertical viewing.
The second challenge was that because programming and fan activity happened throughout NYA Studios, BMG deployed an 11-camera configuration featuring hard cameras, Steadicam, handhelds, and PTZs. This allowed the team to move seamlessly between stage programming, talent, audience reactions, and spontaneous moments.
Maintaining energy across a 7.5 hours of a continuous program for social broadcast required constant coordination of camera coverage, graphics, replay, audio, and live direction. BMG founder and CEO Todd Mason directed the production on site, managing pacing and transitions in real time.
BMG used a REMI workflow connecting Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and New York City. Specialized technical roles operated remotely from BMG facilities while the Los Angeles team focused on capturing and executing the live event, creating a leaner on-site footprint without sacrificing broadcast capabilities.
