Project Type
Live For Broadcast.
The 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held on November 8th, 2025, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. The event was live streamed on Disney +, with an edited version broadcast on ABC in early January 2026.
Project Name
The 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
The ceremony is a celebration of sustained musical excellence. The Inductees represent a vast spectrum of popular music. Innovators from Chubby Checker and Joe Cocker to Cyndi Lauper and Salt-N-Pepa. The show takes its audience on a wild journey from Outkast and the White Stripes to Bad Company and Soundgarden. It blends poignant tributes and raucous medleys of the icons who transformed music throughout their decades spanning careers. It’s a documentary, party and concert all rolled into a 10 act, 4+ hour broadcast.
Design Criteria
The lighting and media design teams led by Allen Branton and Bianca Moncado, respectively, have a long history with this event, but the “puzzle” changes annually. The city and venue, the production design, and of course, the musical artists are never the same. The production schedule is aggressive. The show loads in and out of the venue in 8 days. It needs to be camera ready by day 3 and is broadcast on day 7. Rehearsal blocks with the artists are 1.5 hours and the “dress rehearsal” is the live broadcast.
Project Description
4-Wall Entertainment and the crew led by Alex Flores are key collaborators. The preparation and quality of the gear make any of this possible. The rig is loaded-in and 100% ready for use in 2 days, gaining precious hours of focus and programming time in a schedule that needs every minute.
Collaboration with the Production Designer, Bruce Rodgers (Tribe), Executive Producers Joel Gallen and Rick Austin, Producers Gary Lanvy and Emily Wolfe, and Brian Lolly of Kish Rigging in the months before load-in is critical to success. Team Lighting and Screens plan extensively, and the pre-production work allows the limited time in space to be used optimally. The result is a dynamic visual design, with nuance where needed and raw Rock and Roll explosiveness when called for. The show can shift from a quiet duet to a massive venue shaking rock anthem inside of a single tribute performance. The design must be able to make those pivots in the musical performances and allow space and calm for poignant acceptance speeches.
Lighting and screens content are designed to seamlessly integrate with one another for a cohesive visual experience. Screens content ranges from architectural elements to famous band iconography to virtual “lighting” creating a massive PAR rig for 80’s hair band Bad Company. Much of the screen array is backed by a lighting rig allowing blow-thru effects. The choreography of blending these visual elements is coordinated both on site and in pre-visualization. Lighting brings the party throughout the venue and its audience of industry powerhouses and fans eager to celebrate “their” inductees. The experience of the teams allow collaboration and editing right up to (and during) the broadcast. Refinement and execution continue right until the “wrap” is called and the cameras are shut down.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame mission is to preserve the history of great musical storytellers from all walks of life. The show is epic. It started with a tribute to Sly and The Family Stone by Stevie Wonder and end with Joe Cocker’s “Little Help From my Friends” with Cyndi Lauper, Bryan Adams and so many more icons of the music industry. We are honored to help tell their stories and appropriately melt a few faces along the way.
