UK-based ethical ticketing company Ticketpass, which donates a portion of all event sales to charity and recently launched its ethical resale marketplace, has partnered with what3words to offer the company’s location technology to event organizers using the Ticketpass platform.
what3words was developed to facilitate the way people communicate about locations and uses an innovative method to achieve this goal. The what3words system uses unique three-word codes to refer to every 3-meter (about 10-foot) square in the world — it’s essentially a coordinate system, only using larger areas of land and easier codes.
By integrating what3words’ technology, Ticketpass will enable organizers to add what3words addresses to event tickets and booking confirmations and provide an enhanced and more efficient experience to attendees. For example, instead of simply listing a venue address, event organizers can specify the exact what3words codes that correspond to specific entrances, parking areas, Covid testing sites, etc.
“Of course, at our core, we want to give back. But giving back isn’t just about donations and charitable efforts,” Russ Cook, content and partnerships manager at Ticketpass, said in a statement. “For us, at Ticketpass, it’s about providing the best tools for organisers to help change this tired old sector. Working with what3words to make event navigation and organisation more accurate and efficient is truly exciting.”
Chris Sheldrick, Co-Founder and CEO of what3words, added: "There is nothing more frustrating than being unable to find meeting points, toilets, or food stalls at a busy event because there isn't a straightforward way to get there. Now that what3words is built into Ticketpass’ innovative ethical ticketing solution, event organisers can help people to find any 3 metre square with ease. It’s the first integration of its kind, and we’re excited that Ticketpass is paving the way for a world where what3words addresses appear on every event ticket and booking confirmation.”
