ETG Moves To New Facility

Excitement Technologies Group (ETG) has completed its move to new facilities near Dallas, TX. The laser / special effects wizards didn’t have to travel far from their former location, and moving a large operation can be challenging, but the added resources and square footage ETG’s new home affords was well worth the effort.

Along with more breathing room, their new address (4301A Lindbergh Drive, Addison, TX 75001) offers several notable amenities. According to President Kelly Sticksel, “We’re very excited to move into this new building. With dedicated R & D space for our special effects department, we can better push the edge of the envelope - without one technician pushing it into the workspace of another one!”

Their client demo room is also top notch; a configurable HVAC system is in place to remove fog and smoke quickly after a demonstration. A theatre quality sound system, powerful full color solid-state lasers and a video projection system round out the hardware in the demo room. Sticksel continues, “We also have a beautiful large Goo-Systems screen painted on one wall for the projections. Demonstrations really become fun for our clients. We truly live in a high tech playground.”

Shop manager Matt Roelfs comments, “With our new high ceilings, testing for our high-intensity LED products and proximate pyro is more in scale with the venues in which we use them. It’s important to have an environment with the proper scale.”

The shop demonstration area now lets ETG demonstrate many of their larger effects without having to scale them down. “This really lets our clients envision the effects on their stage without having to use too much imagination. It’s really nice.”

Finally, ETG has added space for their new design division, complete with a powerful Solidworks station and Rapid Prototyping machine. “Our design suite provides us with state of the art tools and allows us to fabricate designs in record time for our clients,” adds Joe Groves, Operations director. “Within minutes of conception, we can ‘print’ a 3D model of our designs in ABS plastic and test them immediately. It’s also great for demonstrating concepts to our clients.”
