ETCP Electrical Exam Information Now Available

The Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) Council announced that the electrical candidate handbook and application forms are now available. The first ETCP electrical examination will be held in October 2006 in conjunction with the LDI trade show. Candidate information, including eligibility requirements and application forms, are available on the ETCP website.

All experienced entertainment electricians are invited to take the industry's first electrical certification exam. The electrical certifications are designed for highly experienced electricians (including leads, supervisors, and managers of entertainment electrical work). Individuals must meet eligibility requirements to apply for the examination. The application deadline is July 1, 2006, and space is limited.

Candidates who pass the examination in October 2006 will be the first ETCP Certified Entertainment Electricians in North America and will be acknowledged as the only members of the “Class of 2006” on the ETCP website.

The ETCP electrical examination is designed to test a well-defined body of knowledge representative of current professional electrical practices. Successful completion of a certification examination verifies broad-based knowledge as an entertainment electrician. Information regarding the content of the examination is available in the candidate handbook. The content for the examination is based on a job analysis performed by twelve subject matter experts under the guidance of a professional psychometric firm, along with input from hundreds of electricians across North America.
