ETC Donation Puts ETCP Campaign Over $500,000

The Entertainment Services and Technology Association (ESTA) announced that ETC (Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc.) has made a $25,000 donation to the development of the new Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP). ETC’s contribution brings the total pledges received to date to just over $500,000.

Upon announcing the donation, Fred Foster, CEO of ETC stated, “I believe that the ETCP program is a terrific investment in our industry’s most important resource: the people who work to put on exciting, interesting and safe performances. ETC is proud to be able to support these efforts.”

ETCP council chair Tim Hansen commented, “We are very pleased that ETC has decided to make a substantial contribution to the program. Having such an important lighting manufacturer show this level of support adds strength to the entire program."

ETCP is developing and will be implementing a new industry-wide certification program for entertainment technology technicians. The ETCP Fundraising Campaign is seeking funds for the development stage of the Program, which is expected to become self supporting once the initial development phase is complete. The target for the campaign is $750,000.

ETCP will set standards for safer working practices and reduce workplace risk in all entertainment venues. Industry experts will develop rigorous assessments, conduct examinations, and award credentials to qualified entertainment technicians. ETCP will focus on disciplines that directly affect the health and safety of performers, crews and audiences, beginning with rigging skills and electrical skills.
