Elation CMC Contest Winner Announced

Jeff Newing of Ala Carte Entertainment in Schaumburg, Illinois, is the winner of an all-expenses-paid trip from Elation Professional to attend the Live Design’s Concert Master Classes in Los Angeles, where lighting designers learn tips and techniques from some of the best lighting professionals in the business today.

Newing was chosen at random out of 327 entries in the contest, which ran last month on Elation’s Facebook page. He will receive round trip airfare to Los Angeles, three nights’ hotel accommodations, meals, and ground transportation in Los Angeles, plus enrollment in the Concert Master Classes, December 3-4, 2011 at the University of Southern California’s new Ronald Tutor Campus Center Grand Ballroom in Los Angeles.

As director of entertainment, media and promotions for Ala Carte Entertainment, Newing is required to stay current with modern lighting trends and equipment, especially since the company has been remodeling several of its locations, installing new sound and updating lighting in many of its nightclubs. The Fox River Grove, Illinois resident is responsible for managing the company’s DJ’s, band and special events at Ala Carte’s facilities, as well as developing promotions and marketing ideas to build business. Newing has never attended Live Design’s Master Classes before, but decided to enter after receiving an email notification about the contest from Live Design.

“I challenge myself to learn something new every day, and I hope to soak up knowledge of new products and techniques at the Concert Master Classes that will help me in designing our new super-club in Chicago next year,” Newing said. “Thank you Elation and Live Design for this fantastic opportunity. I hope to gain and share as much knowledge as possible from these classes with all my staff back here in Chi-town.”

The Live Design Concert Master Classes focus on concert lighting and projection, with legendary lighting designer Jeff Ravitz of Intensity Advisors, who is best known for his collaboration with Bruce Springsteen, as creative consultant for the symposium. The list of event speakers includes industry greats such as Willie Williams, Steve Cohen, Butch Allen, Patrick Dierson, Bob Bonniol, Jim Lenahan, Anne Militello, David “Gurn” Kaninski, Arnold Serame, Tim LaValley, and others.

Elation will showcase its newest and most innovative products with the latest technology in lighting design during Live Design’s Concert Master Classes, such as the RDMS6 6-way splitter; the Opti Tri White, an LED par with cool, warm and amber lighting options; the Platinum Beam 5R, a classic ACL effect with cutting-edge Philips MSD Platinum technology; and the Opti Quad Par, an LED wash with 18 powerful 5-watt four-in-one RGBW (red, green, blue, white) LEDs for superior color mixing and smooth dimming. Other manufacturers will also have lighting and projection gear on display during the CMC.

Register by November 4 to save on the Concert Master Classes, as well as in-depth hands-on training in the LDInstitute On The Road and Backstage Disney Day.
