Take part in two-days of in-depth technical theme park training at Disneyland® Park and Disney California Adventure® Park in Anaheim, and go behind the scenes to learn how Disney magic is made! This training is for those interested in how all the complex design and technology elements come together in the challenging theme park environment, where equipment is tested to the max for glitch-free operation. See the shows and attractions, do backstage tours, and attend comprehensive, detailed panel discussions that examine all aspects of the process with the designers and technicians who turn pixie dust into some of the world’s most technically advanced theme park innovation. From Cars Land —the exciting new land at Disney California Adventure® Park based on the 2006 Disney•Pixar Cars Movie—to the stunningly brilliant World of Color show, this is a two-day event you don't want to miss!

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

Tuesday, December 3

7am-8:45am: Haunted Mansion Holiday Tour: Prior to park opening, guests are escorted through “Haunted Mansion Holiday” which uses lighting, projection, scenery, and props to tell the twisted tale of Jack Skellington taking over the Haunted Mansion. See how a classic attraction is annually transformed into a holiday treat, now in its 13th year! Tour hosted by Joe Peters

9:15am-11am: Mickey and the Magical Map Tour/Show: Experience a backstage tour of Disneyland’s latest stage show. See the massive LED wall and all-new lighting, sound, video, and automation installation. The tour is followed by a VIP viewing of the show; hosted by Mike Layman

Break 11am-11:45am

11:45am: Mickey and the Magical Map Show

12:15pm-1:30pm: Lunch

1:30pm-2:45pm: Haunted Mansion Panel Discussion: Learn all about the Haunted Mansion Holiday attraction overlay from members of the creative and production team. Panelists include Brian Sandahl (Art Director), Joe Peters (Technical Director), and Kent Sheranian (Lighting Designer).

3pm-4:15pm: Backstage Pyro Tour: Tour the pyrotechnic launch area that supports all four of the Magic Kingdom’s firework spectaculars.

4:30pm - 5:45pm: Mickey and the Magical Map Panel Discussion: From concept to completion, members of the creative and production team share their experience of designing and building Disneyland’s newest stage show. Panelists include Scott Auerbach (Art Director), Mike Layman (Technical Director), KC Wilkerson (Lighting Designer), Justin Sykes (Head Video), Ben Keys (Head Audio).

6:45pm-7:15pm: World of Color Holiday Viewing: New for 2013 is a holiday version of World of Color. Enjoy VIP seating for Disney California Adventure’s newest spectacular!

8pm- Dinner

Wednesday, December 4

6:30am-8:15am: World of Color Holiday Backstage Tour: Prior to park opening, attendees are treated to a behind the scenes tour of this holiday spectacular and the accompanying “Glow with The Show” technology.

8:30am-10:15am: Aladdin, A Musical Adventure Tour and Show: Attendees are treated to an intensive behind-the-scenes tour of this perennial favorite. Tour hosted by Earle Greene

11am-11:45am: Aladdin, A Musical Adventure (performance)

11:45am-12:30pm: Lunch

12:30pm-1:45pm: Parade Building Tour: Take a look at the inner workings of parade float technology. Tour hosted by Mitch Atkins (Technical Director) and Caitlin Guyan (Lighting Designer).

2:00pm-3:15pm: World of Color Holiday Panel Discussion: From concept to completion, members of the creative and production team share their experience of designing and building this holiday spectacular. Panelists include Steven Davison (VP, Parades and Spectaculars), Chuck Davis (Principal Technical Director), Jason Badger (Lighting Designer), Justin Sykes (Head Video), and Jeremy Rynders (Head Audio).

3:30pm - 4:15pm: Mad T Party Tour: The Mad T Party (Live Design “Excellence In Design” Award Winner will not be operation during this time, but attendees will be toured through the venue to see the lighting and video technology used to support this ever-changing party.

4:30pm-5:15pm: Mad T Party Panel Discussion: This panel, featuring members of the current production team, focuses on how to keep a show fresh and relevant; discussing the holiday offerings (Halloween and Holiday) as well as new band songs, dance sets, and featured performances. Panelists include Robin  Trowbridge (Show Director), KC Wilkerson (Lighting Designer), Tiffany Keys (Lighting Programmer), BZ Richards (Head Audio), and Jared Kleier (Controls Designer).

Believe in Holiday Magic / Dinner: The sessions, tours, and shows come to a close with a viewing of “Believe in Holiday Magic,” Disneyland’s long-running holiday fireworks show; featuring snowflakes on Main Street USA and Sleeping Beauty Castle covered in thousands of sparkling lights.
