Design & Drafting announced that it acquired AutoBlock2000 from MSZDesign, a developer and marketer of a theatrical lighting plug-in software for AutoCAD. AutoBlock2000 provides sophisticated lighting design tools to theatrical designers around the world.
"The acquisition brings together two programs that have complementary strengths. Design & Drafting gains technology of a proven performer in the theatrical lighting plot layout design," says Rufus Warren, president, Design & Drafting. "With the addition of AutoBlock2000 AutoCAD plug-in, we expect to become a stronger player in the theatrical marketplace."
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. According to Warren, the approximately five-year-old product will continue to be sold under the name AutoBlock by Design & Drafting while MSZDesign moves into other areas of design. MSZDesign has been an AutoCAD Plug-in Developer since January 1999. The underlying technologies in both companies' products are complementary.
