David Rockwell Keynote At Architectural Lighting Master Classes

Architect David Rockwell will deliver the keynote address at the 2nd annual Architectural Lighting Master Classes (ALMC) scheduled on Thursday and Friday, February 20 and 21, 2003 at John Jay College Auditorium, 899 10th Ave @ 58th Street, in Manhattan. Known for his inventive style and flair, Rockwell has designed many of the most interesting restaurants in New York City, including Nobu, Rosa Mexicana, Town, and Noche, as well as such hotels as Chambers, W New York, and W Union Square. He also designed the Cirque du Soleil theatre in Orlando, and the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. He often collaborates with lighting designer Paul Gregory of the New York-based Focus Lighting. Gregory is also one of the creative consultants for the ALMC.

Rockwell’s keynote address on the creative use of light will kick off the proceedings on Thursday, Februray 20. The preliminary schedule for the remainder of the day includes:

There will be a manufacturer’s showcase with the latest in architectural lighting products and accessories held each day at lunch time and at the end of the afternoon sessions. In addition to the information presented in the lectures, the showcase offers architects, interior designers, lighting designers, electrical engineers, and other heads of design projects, an opportunity to see how creative lighting design enhances all architectural projects.

The ALMC is organized by Sonny Sonnenfeld, in collaboration with Architectural Lighting magazine. The fee to register is $550 before 12/20/02; $595 after 12/20/02. Special association discounts are available at $495 before 12/20/02; or $545 after 12/20/02.
