CONCERTS

Radiohead
Acclaimed as the best-looking concert tour of the year, Radiohead’s tour makes ambitious, thrilling use of LED technology, specifically the Piexelline range from James Thomas Engineering. Richard Bleasdale created a special software for High End Systems Catalyst, which allowed LD Andi Watson to program and control the LED units. Sharon Stancavage talks to Watson about this exciting tour; also featured is gear from Martin, Wybron, and Flying Pig Systems, with supply by Bandit Lites and technical input from AC Lighting.

CLUB

Ice
Vegas gets a hot new dance club all with this brand-new venue, with lighting by club veteran Steve Lieberman. The project includes gear from Martin, Coemar, ETC, Times Square Lighting, MA Lighting, LED Effects, TMB, Altman, DHA, Le Maitre, and more. Ellen Lampert-Greaux reports.

TECHNOLOGY

Lighting in Repertory
What are the challenges of designing a show with a repertory plot? How does an LD play well with others when he or she has to design around two more productions in the same space. How do you cope with huge changeovers that must happen in a couple of hours? Ellen Lampert-Greaux speaks to designers and technicians from the Shaw Festival, Stratford Festival, the Cincinnati Opera, and the MUNY in St. Louis to get the answers.

PRODUCT REVIEW

Avolite Diamond 4 Console
The latest console from one of the top European manufacturers is now on the market. How does it stand up to the competition? Kathleen Eddy speaks to several LDs and programmers to find out what they think.
