CONCERTS

Fleetwood Mac
The Mac is back! One of rock's longest-running acts (and longest-running soap operas) is back, with a new album and a new tour (minus Christine McVie). Paul "Arlo" Guthrie and Curry Grant have designed the new show, using lots of Vari*Lite® automated units, along with gear from Syncrolite, Altman, Thomas, and Lycian, all supplied by VLPS Los Angeles. Sharon Stancavage reports on this great-looking new tour.

TELEVISION

Eurovision
Forget American Idol: The Eurovision Song Contest grabs the attention of an entire continent! This one-of-a-kind combo of election, beauty pageant, and talent show has to be seen to be believed. This year's event is once again designed by Per Sundin, with gear supplied by Spectra+ of Sweden. This year, High End Systems is the automated lighting company of choice, with the Catalyst 3, the latest version of Catalyst, making its debut. There's also gear from Robert Juliat, Barco, Lighthouse, and more. With LEDs, video, Catalyst, and moving lights, this is a state-of-the-art production. David Barbour takes you behind the scenes.

ARCHITECTURE

Indian Moon Casino
Come to the Choctaw Indian Reservation in Philadelphia, MS, where this stunning new building has opened. It's unlike anything you've ever seen and it features a stunning exterior design by Robert Daniels of Brilliant Lighting Design, which has won more awards than virtually any other project this year. Working with gear from Cresent, Pathway, Ruud, Sentinel, Cole, and Space Cannon. Ellen Lampert-Gréaux reports.

TECHNOLOGY

Video Display Resolutions, Formats, and Interfacing for Lighting Applications
What should an LD know about this topic? Everything. With Catalyst, RADlite, and other video display/lighting programs turning up in production after production, LDs now have to be experts in this new field. Expert Robert Mokry gives you the basic tools to make informed decisions.

Also in this issue...
The Louise Mandrell Theatre in Pigeon Forge, TN; the Whale Room at the American Museum of Natural History, NYC; Hamlet at Houston's Alley Theatre, and much more.
