CONCERTS

The Dixie Chicks
One of country’s top acts takes to the road with a visually stunning in-the-round set, punctuated by an elaborate LED floor, designed by LeRoy Bennett. Lighting supplied by Upstaging (includes Martin MAC 2000s, VL 2000 series wash and spot luminaires, Icons, Icon board and Wholehog II board, Tomcat truss, CM motors, Reel EFX hazers). Sound by ShowCo--includes Show Console programmable sound board, Prism PA system with about 80 boxes in the four clusters in the air, Clair I/O wireless drive system, Paragon boards for monitors, and Shure microphones. Staging and scenery by Tait Towers, B & R Scenery, Perry Scenic Unlimited. Video by Nocturne--an all digital SDI system with a Pinnacle ACLE PS9000i switcher, 6 doremi playback units, Electrosonic Vector system, and 808 Barcolite I-10 LED panels. Cathy McHugh reports.

ARCHITECTURE

Laban Centre
One of Europe’s leading institutions for dance training, the new state-of the art Laban Centre features an array of dance studios, a 100-seat lecture theatre and a 300 seat theatre. British Harlequin provided all those comfy floors. Vendors include Robert Juliat, ETC, Strand, Thomas, Chroma Q, Doughty Engineering, Allen & Heath, Nexo, Beyer, AKG, Shure, Sony, Tascam, and Denon. Ellen Lampert-Greaux reports.
