THEATRE

Zumanity
Dubbed "Sex due Soleil" in some circles, the latest from the folks at Cirque du Soleil, housed in the newly transformed theatre at New York, New York on the Vegas strip, is being billed as a sexy and provocative twist on their classic family-friendly formula. It certainly sports a provocative design, from Stephane Roy (sets), Luc Lafortune (lighting), Thierry Mugler (costumes), Jonathan Deans (sound), and Natacha Merritt (projections). Auerbach & Associates served as consultants on the theatre space, with PMK Acoustics handling the acoustical needs. Vendors include Strand, Vari-Lite, High End Systems, Martin Professional, Clay Paky, Mole Richardson, and Digital Projection.

Opera

Parsifal
The inaugural production of the Seattle Opera's newly renovated home (now called Marion Oliver Macaw Hall) sports innovative projection design by ED's own Bob and Colleen Bonniol, sets and costumes by Robert Israel, and lighting by Michael Chybowski. Vendors include Scharff Weisberg, Dataton, Digital Projection, Martin Professional, Chroma Q, Christie Lites, Gala, and ETC.

PLUS

McCaw Hall
Marion Oliver Macaw Hall, home to both the Seattle Opera and Pacific Northwest Ballet, was a massive undertaking comprised of 30% renovation and 70% new construction of the companies' 80-year-old space. LMN served as architects for the project, with Shuler and Shook serving as theatre consultants and Jeffe Holden serving as acousticians. Other vendors include Proskenion Design, Stage Technologies, and JR Clancy

VENUE

Lookingglass Theatre
Housed in the gothic Chicago Water Tower Water Works, the new home of the Windy City's Lookingglass Theatre is a flexible space with a removable permieter balcony and movable risers that seat about 250. The creative team includes Morris Architects, Shuler & Shook, and The Talaske Group; participating vendors include ETC, JR Clancy, Altman, Peavey, and Ashly
