Clay Paky Lights The Ice For Feld Entertainment & Disney

Feld Entertainment has purchased almost 100 Clay Paky fixtures for their newest Disney On Ice production.

“What impressed me most is that it has 20 gobos,” says Feld Entertainment’s Dennis Flenniken, commenting on the Alpha Spot 1200 HPE. “In our search to find the best light for this production, we did not come across anything comparable that could spin 20 gobos. When you put the animation disc in front of the static gobos, it looks like they are rotating in several directions.

LD Peter Morse was also impressed with the fixtures after he received a demonstration at Clay Paky America’s office in Valencia, CA. “They are a nice light,” remarked Morse on the Clay Paky Alpha range. “The biggest surprise for me was the Alpha Wash 575 because it is so bright.” Morse’s programmer and assistant, Eric Wade, echoed his sentiments on the Alpha Wash 575. “The Alpha Wash 575 is an amazing light,” notes Wade. “It’s super bright for a 575.”

In all, Feld Entertainment is operating a total of 42 Alpha Wash 575 fixtures, six Alpha Spot 575 fixtures, and 48 of Clay Paky’s new fixture – the Alpha Spot 1200— which were the very first production models to arrive in the US. “It’s a great looking light,” says Wade of the Alpha Spot 1200 HPE. “It has lots of gobos, and we had very few failures – everything about them is high-quality.”

Like Wade, Flenniken was also impressed with the reliability of the new fixture from Clay Paky. “We’ve had five weeks of rehearsal, two weeks of heavy programming and tech-rehearsals,” notes Flenniken of the busy schedule. “Not one was dropped out of the rig for repairs.”
