Christie Joan Heiss, a former member of the New York lighting community, passed away earlier this month in Geer Village, Canaan, Connecticut, after a battle with Lyme disease. She was 74.
Originally from Alabama she studied music and theatre in West Virginia before moving to New York City.
She worked for years as a production electrician in New York, where she was known by many as the Queen of Off-Broadway. After changing careers in her thirties she moved to the farming community of Ancram, New York, and became an equine midwife.
She was predeceased by both her parents, her sister, Susie, and her brother, Peter. She is survived by many friends.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
