Christie Appoints Terry Schmidt Chief Scientist

Gerry Remers, president and chief operating officer at Christie, is pleased to announce the appointment of Terry Schmidt to chief scientist responsible for concept leadership in the development of high performance projection solutions for control rooms, fixed installations, rental staging, immersive environments and Digital Cinema.

"The title of chief scientist is one that is used by numerous companies to recognize the singular contribution that a key individual plays in the technological growth of an organization," said Remers. "This title recognizes Terry Schmidt's ongoing and long-trm leadership in the development of electronic projection products."

Terry Schmidt is recognized throughout the industry as an expert and is credited with the creation of electronic data projection. It was Schmidt's insight that allowed Electrohome, and later Christie, to become recognized as a leader in high-performance projection solutions. He is directly responsible for the development of the first high brightness LCD projector (ShowStar) and the first commercially available 3-chip DLP product family. Schmidt has served as engineering project leader on several major CRT and lamp-based projection products over the last 25 years at Electrohome.
