Broadway Lighting & Sound Master Classes and EDDY Awards Coming to New York in June

Jacqueline Tien, publisher of Entertainment Design and Lighting Dimensions magazines, and David Johnson, editor of Entertainment Design, have announced that the 2004 Broadway Lighting Master Classes (BLMC) and Broadway Sound Master Classes (BSMC) will be held at John Jay College Auditorium in New York City in June. The Broadway Lighting Master Classes will be held from June 16-18, 2004, with the Broadway Sound Master Classes on June 18-20, 2004. Both are professional level seminars that focus on the best of lighting and sound design for Broadway and beyond.

Founded 10 years ago, the BLMC features Tony Award-winning lighting designer Jules Fisher as creative consultant and head of a distinguished faculty of today’s top LDs. Over the years, the BLMC has proved to be one of the best seminars of its kind, drawing a large international audience, many of whom return year after year.

This marks the second annual BSMC, an in-depth look at professional sound design that launched with a very successful debut last year. The "godfather" of sound design, Abe Jacob, serves as creative consultant for the BSMC and will once again present an outstanding faculty of the top audio designers in the industry today.

Both the BLMC and BSMC feature special Manufacturer Showcases, with leading manufacturers sharing their latest technology and product breakthroughs. Like the Master Classes, the Showcases offer direct interface with the manufacturers in an informal environment.

Highlights of the weekend include a ticket to a hit Broadway show and post-show discussion, plus the12th annual EDDY Awards for excellence in entertainment design and technology. All BLMC/BSMC attendees, as well as industry professionals, are invited to attend the EDDY Awards on Friday, June 18th.

"The BLMC and BSMC offer a great opportunity to learn from the masters, who are willing to share their tips and techniques as well as creative applications in both sound and lighting," says Tien. "I am thrilled that Jules Fisher and Abe Jacob will be leading the Master Classes again in 2004."
