The 2011 Live Design Broadway Master Classes, to be held May 20-26 at NYU in New York City, feature a series of Manufacturers Showcases that put the latest gear for Broadway and beyond in the spotlight. Leading manufacturers and dealers present hot new technology as well as classic products designed for the Broadway market as well as regional theatre, houses of worship, and other theatrical applications.
Representatives of these companies are on hand and available for demos and discussion about the gear in the informal, boutique setting of the Master Classes, affording attendees the opportunity to make important contacts and get all the information the need about the gear they are interested in.
The Manufacturers Showcase for the Broadway Sound Master Classes (BSMC, creative consultant Abe Jacob) will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 21 & 22 in the Abe Burrows Theatre at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts at 721 Broadway, NYC. From consoles and communications systems to microphones, loudspeakers, amps and accessories, a wide range of sound gear is on hand for attendees to explore.
The Broadway Lighting Master Classes (BLMC, creative consultant Jules Fisher) embrace a two-day Manufacturers Showcase as well, on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 24 and 25. This year the showcase will be different than in past years as it will be located in NYU’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, where the classes themselves are held (on stage, in-house, and lobby locations to accommodate the 20+ companies that participate). This showcase also comprises projection technology, as the one-day Broadway Projection Master Classes do not have a separate showcase due to logistics.
