BLMC Faculty and Caroline, or Change Score Big at Tony Noms

Lighting designer Jules Fisher, the Tony Award-winning lighting designer who heads the faculty for the Broadway Lighting Master Classes, received another Tony nomination in this year's Best Lighting Design category, along with his partner Peggy Eisenhauer, for their lighting design of the Stephen Sondheim musical, Assassins. Eisenhauer is also a distinguished member of the BLMC faculty.

Making his debut on the BLMC faculty this year is lighting designer Brian MacDevitt who received a double Tony nomination in the Best Lighting Design category. He was nominated for both the Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof and for the Lincoln Center Theatre production of Henry IV.

This year, all BLMC/BSMC participants will attend a performance of Caroline, or Change, whose lighting was also designed by Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer. Caroline, or Change, was nominated for six Tony Awards including:

  • Best Musical

  • Tonya Pinkins, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical

  • Anika Noni Rose, Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical

  • George C. Wolfe, Best Director of a Musical

  • Tony Kushner, Best Book of a Musical

  • Jeanine Tesori and Tony Kushner, Best Original Score
